ABOUT THE BOOK:

Photographer Sierra Stratton views the world through a lens all her own. She has an uncanny sense about people, something that often causes her trouble. When she meets the sexy and brooding Evan Dorsey, her intuition tells her he’s suffering, and she wants to be the one to help him.

Evan isn’t open to help from anyone, however. His focus is on his Major League career and making himself as marketable as possible for his upcoming free agency. He plans to ride out the season in Atlanta and then sign with another team, away from the painful memories that haunt him.

Someone’s eager to send him on his way, too. Between anonymous threats and equipment sabotage, it’s clear he’s earned himself an enemy along the way. To him, it’s one more sign that he’s right to move on.

But Sierra threatens his conviction. Her contagious smile proves hard to resist, as does her kiss. She tempts him in ways he never anticipated, making him question his plans for the first time. If he’s not careful, she might just convince him that he’s meant for her.

Reardon Lewis is a small-town lawyer in Cherry Springs, the place where he and his cousins grew up. The only thing missing in his life is love, and it just so happens that the one woman he has always wanted but could never have has just moved to Cherry Springs.

Chloe Zahn is a successful businesswoman, a city girl, and a single mom. The last thing she ever planned to do was move to a small town, but that’s the choice she’s made to bring her son closer to his dad. The only problem? The Lewis family and the obvious disdain they have for her.

The more time Reardon and Chloe spend together, the harder it is to fight their growing feelings for each other. Things between them have always been Too Complicated, but Reardon knows this may be his last chance to win over the woman he’s always dreamed of, complications be damned.

EXCERPT:
Crazy tall, with blond, perfectly styled hair and bright-blue eyes, Reardon Lewis was not a hard man to look at. In fact, sometimes I would catch sight of him and my body would react in a completely unexpected way.
Kind of like it is now…
I was aware of the heat coming off his body, his shoulders so large that they were barely a centimeter away from mine, as he slouched into the seat, probably trying to reach some level of comfort. His hands were palm down on his thighs, and were so very large that just looking at them seemed to cause something inside of me to start twitching.
Then there was his smell.
Good Lord on earth, it was heavenly.
I’d caught a whiff every now and then, but at this proximity the bright, clean smell of him seemed to wrap around me in a warm hug.
“Chloe?” he asked, and I snapped out of my scent-induced stupor, and realized he’d asked me something.
“I’m sorry, what?” I asked, hoping he didn’t suspect that I was having a physical reaction to his presence. I clenched my thighs together and started counting to twenty, hoping to make the tingle go away.
“I asked if this is the first time you’re seeing it.”
“Seeing what?” I asked dumbly.
“Star Wars,” he replied with a chuckle, then narrowed his eyes at me. “Are you okay?”

ABOUT THE BOOK
A rock band. A reality show. The opportunity of a lifetime.
.
As the front man for The Void, lead singer Dane Archer has yet to achieve the success he craves. He hopes that will change when he’s approached about filming a reality show called House of Archer. All he and the band have to do is get some juicy footage while on their upcoming tour.
.
The problem? Archer’s life is a snoozefest. His parents are happily married, he’s never done drugs or gotten arrested, and he doesn’t get into fights with his band mates. He knows the show will fizzle and die before it ever hits the air, taking his dreams of worldwide fame along with it.
.
Unless…
.
If Archer can convince his best friend Lily to be on the show, he’s sure they’ll get all the compelling footage they need. Her life is filled with drama. Hell, she’s practically a reality show in her own right.
.
Archer’s willing to do whatever it takes to get Lily on board, even if it means charming her into being more than just friends. But when he finds himself falling for her, his seemingly simple plan gets complicated. Soon the line between reality and Reality TV begins to blur, leaving him wondering if achieving his dreams is worth all it might cost him.
.
SNEAK PEAK
“What are…Dane? What’s going on?” Lily asked as he climbed into the SUV behind her and closed the door.
“We’re going to talk.”
“I don’t want to talk.”
“That’s too damn bad.”
Her irritation disappeared in a blink of shock. He hadn’t infused the words with any heat, but it certainly wasn’t the response she had expected.
Neither of them said another word until Barney had seated himself behind the wheel. “Do you need anything before we depart, Mr. Archer?” he asked.
“No, Barney. Thanks.”
Barney nodded and pressed the button to raise the privacy shield between the front and back seats. Once they were moving, Dane turned back to Lily. Since she was glowering out the window, she saw his expression in the reflective surface. For some reason he looked amused over her behavior.
“Lily, nothing happened with Camilla,” he began.
She shrugged. “Why would I care?”
“Because I kissed you yesterday.” When she didn’t reply, he continued, “Do you really think so little of me that you believe I’d go from kissing you like that to pursuing another woman?”
She huffed out a sigh and finally met his gaze. “Of course I don’t think little of you, Dane. Honestly, I don’t know what to think right now.”
He looked relieved that she was speaking with him in a calm manner rather than chewing his head off. It made her regret going out of her way to avoid and ignore him all morning. She had been acting like a middle schooler. He was her best friend. He deserved to have his say.
“Look, Lily, I know I screwed up last night. I should have mentioned I had that interview so you knew to wait for me. I was more concerned about keeping Camilla happy so she would give the band some good press than I was about hunting you down to talk about us.”
She bit her bottom lip and looked down at the notebook she was clutching in her lap. “It’s okay, Dane. I—”
“No, it’s not okay.” He ran a hand through his hair as though trying to find the right words to give her. “You have no idea how important you are to me, Lily. You’re the best friend I’ve ever had. You’re beautiful and funny and I know I can tell you anything. But I haven’t told you the truth about how I feel about you. I want more than just your friendship. I want a shot at a real relationship with you.”
Her heart ached more with every word he spoke. “Oh, Dane.”
His expression fell. “What? What’s wrong?”
Taking a deep breath, she said, “Johnathan asked me to marry him.”
The words seemed to knock the wind right out of him. She actually saw him flinch as though suffering from a blow. He shook his head and cleared his throat a couple of times before he spoke again.
“What did you tell him?” he managed to ask.
“Well…I told him yes.”

EXCERPT:
I was writing a book about teens, magic, and destiny, but all that kept flowing out of me were hot, sweaty sex scenes, with a hero that looked a helluva lot like Superman.

I needed therapy … Or a really good bout of sex.

The knock at my door had me whipping my head away from my computer, and my heart literally flipped in my chest when I saw Gabe standing on the other side of the screen door.

He was still shirtless!

All I could think was, the man had better be single, as I pushed my chair back and walked over to open the door.

“Hey,” I managed softly.

“You ready?” he asked with a handsome grin, his eyes roaming over my excuse for a bathing suit cover-up.

It was a lacy number that really didn’t cover the bikini underneath at all. I’d noticed him checking me out, in between the moments that I was checking him out. I didn’t jog, do yoga, and torture myself with workout DVDs for nothing. It was time for me to step up my game and take matters into my own hands.

Cover Reveal: FIREBIRD by Deborah Leigh

***COVER REVEAL***

Title: Firebird (A Survivor Series novel)

Author: Deborah Leigh

Genre: Dark contemporary romance with a HEA

Release Date: January 4, 2017

firebird-high-resolution-ebook

 Blurb:

When the worst thing imaginable happens to Mary Dougal, her physical body might have survived but her soul feels like it has died. Now the only thing getting her up every morning is the thought of revenge. Making her attackers pay will be the final act in her life.

Feeling like half a man after a tragic accident, former soldier Cain “Ace” Turner has given up on even the idea of love. He’s focused on building his construction business and trying to leave his painful past behind him. With his family’s support and sometimes unwelcome meddling, he tries to just live one day at a time.

Of course love doesn’t give up that easily, and it just might be the only thing to save them both. When these two meet and get surprised by possibilities, can they prove together that love truly conquers all?

Short Excerpt:

Eventually, just because I’m tired of arguing and my asshole friends got my mother to organize it, I agree to a blind date with a woman named Emma. I arrive exactly on time. I take a couple of deep breaths before knocking on her door. I hate this, but I will make the best of a bad situation.

“Hi, there,” Emma greets me. “Sorry I’m not ready yet. Are you early?”

She invites me in to wait for her, not giving me a chance to answer her before she leaves me alone in the living room. She’s still in her robe, not a promising start. I hope we make our reservation.

The short glimpse I get of her isn’t that great. She’s a platinum blonde with much too fake everything. I prefer more natural-looking women. But I’ll give her a chance. Maybe she’s a real sweet person.

I stand around for a while hoping it will only be a couple of minutes. I eventually give up and sit down. A full half hour later, she walks into the room ready to leave.

Using baseball terminology, that would be strike one.

“I’m surprised that you’re so good looking. Why did your mother have to set you up on a blind date? Are you a weirdo? Where are we going?” she asks, not giving me a chance to reply at all.

This one-sided conversation carries on all the way to the restaurant. I decided to take her to my favorite little Mexican cantina for dinner. The food is incredible and the atmosphere is fun and relaxed. When we get there, I open the car door for her and put my hand on her lower back to lead her into the building.

“Oh my, but you are a gentleman. A little quiet for my liking, but I suppose I can get used to it,” she says.

I can’t help the grin on my face. She hasn’t given me a chance to open my mouth. I can actually feel the headache coming on. I’m mentally cursing my mother for this.

We’re ushered into the restaurant and seated without a wait … a small blessing. I pull out Emma’s chair for her and she giggles. Oh, heaven help me. This is a nightmare.

“Have you been here before? It looks nice. I hope the food is good. I believe you’re in construction? What is that like?” she utters in one breath.

I decide to try and get a word in. “I love seeing things going from nothing to something special, whether it’s a renovation or a new build. It’s exciting and never dull,” I quickly blurt out.

By the look on her face, she’s surprised I said something. I wonder if she ever lets her dates talk.

The server arrives and I order my meal before Emma interrupts me, and then wait for her to place hers. The waiter gives me a pitying look. I wonder how much he overheard. As he leaves to place the order, Emma starts up again.

“I really hope the food is good because it’s a little noisy in here. I can’t hear myself think. I feel like I can’t even have a conversation.”

It takes my best poker face, to stop myself from bursting out in laughter. She hasn’t shut up for more than three seconds since we’ve been here.

That’s definitely strike number two.

The questions continue nonstop as our meals are prepared and eventually served. I have never wished for an emergency call so much in my life. I actually take out my phone before I start eating to check if I missed any calls.

“Didn’t you go to college? Why end up doing such a low level job? Did you ever think about bettering yourself?” she asks.

I grind my teeth so hard I can almost feel them cracking under the pressure. I suppose she wanted a rich guy as a date. I give her a smile and nod, though I’m sure it’s more of a grimace.

Not content with dissing my career and my family, she digs herself in deeper. “At least you’re not in the Army. Those guys just go into the military because they can’t get anything better. I mean, can’t they get real jobs?” she says.

I see red. I’m not even halfway through my meal, but I can’t take it anymore.

“That’s it. Shut up, will you? Those people who you say can’t do any real jobs are the ones who allow you to sleep safely at night. Those men and women go out into dangerous situations to make sure you live in a free country. Every one of them is a better person than you. I’m a veteran, and your opinion is offensive. I can’t bear your ignorance anymore.”

BONUS SCENE FROM THE SERIES:

Cupcakes Series ~ Bonus Scene
I was trying, unsuccessfully, to hide my grin while Elin and Elena chattered on excitedly about our upcoming trip to Hawaii.
We were in the midst of chaos.
Machines were dinging loudly, children were laughing and yelling, and everyone was talking over each other, trying to be heard.
Cade looked uncomfortable, out of place, and like he was hoping a meteor was about to crash down and take out the pizza joint and put him out of his misery.
He had on a black skull cap, a dark t-shirt and black jeans, and he was adorned with his usual jewelry. Thick, silver rings, rope bracelets, and a few chunky necklaces.
He was my shit-hot oasis in a sea of yuppies and stay at home moms.
Even without his cut, it was obvious that my man was one bad-ass mother, and the last place he expected to be on a Friday night was at a family fun place. He was more suited to a smoky bar with classic rock playing on the juke box, and loose women on the prowl.
But did he let on to my twins that he’d rather have his beard taken out with tweezers, one hair at a time, than playing skeeball and grabbing a slice with them… not on your life.
He was grinning as Elin talked about snorkeling, seeing sharks, and going whale watching.
I was about to suggest it was time to go, and let Cade off the hook, when I saw Elena stiffen and drop her head, allowing her hair to curtain her face. I turned my head to see why she was hiding, and saw a group of boys walking into the pizza place, laughing as they looked for an open booth.
“Who are they?” I asked, placing my hand on Elena’s knee.
She shook her head, causing her hair to move, but didn’t reply.
“Lena?” I prodded. When there was still no response, I looked up and caught Elin watching his sister. “Elin?”
“They’ve been giving Lena a hard time in English class, ever since Ms. Cotton made us stand up and read our poems out loud.”
“Why?” I asked sharply. “What have they been doing?”
“Calling her names and stuff,” Elin said, giving the boys a dark look over my shoulder. “I’ve told them to back off. I think that JJ likes her, and that’s why he keeps messing with her.”
“If you like a girl, you don’t show it by being an asshole,” Cade bit off, my gaze swinging to him when I caught his tone.
“Swear jar,” Elin said automatically.
“Gosh, not now, Elin,” Elena said, finally speaking, but still not putting her head up. “Can we just go?”
“Sure, baby,” I said, grabbing my purse and starting to rise.
“I’ll meet you at the truck,” Cade ordered, and my pulse started dancing nervously.
“What are you going to do, Cade?” I hissed, glancing back and forth at the twins who were watching Cade warily. “You can’t beat up a bunch of eleven and twelve-year-old boys.”
“Don’t worry, Darlin’, I’m just going to talk to them,” Cade assured me as all six foot three of him rose and stepped into the aisle. “Meet me at the truck.”
“C’mon, guys,” I said, ushering the twins to the exit. Of course, once we got outside, we didn’t go to the car, we pressed our noses to the glass to see what was happening inside.
We watched as Cade sauntered over to where the boys were piling into their booth. They all jumped when he spoke, and I saw a few of them start to visibly shake as they looked my biker babe over.
I saw one kid raise his hand, and Elin whispered, “That’s JJ,” then get out of the booth to stand next to Cade who put a hand on his shoulder as he spoke to him.
The kid’s hair flopped as he nodded rapidly, and I swear, I could see his Adam’s apple bob as he swallowed.
Cade picked up his hand, then brought it back down on JJ’s shoulder, said something to the kid, then something to the group of boys, before turning and striding casually to the cashier where he paid our bill.
We watched as he walked out, eyes on us as we peered back at him from our viewing spot, and our heads all turned toward Cade as he opened the door and turned to us.
“Can you ever just do what I ask, Lila?” he asked, his tone frustrated, but his face amused.
I shook my head slowly, dying to ask what he’d said to those boys, but knowing he wouldn’t answer in front of the kids.
“I didn’t think so,” Cade said, then fished the keys out of his pocket and added, “Let’s go.” But before he could step off of the curb and head to the parking lot, Elena rushed forward and threw herself against him.
I bit back a watery sigh as Cade bent low and kissed my daughter on the top of her head.
“Let’s go home,” he said softly, and I heard Elena say, “Thanks, Cade,” her voice muffled against his shirt.
“Anytime, sweet girl,” was his reply.
